Join the “Keep Garland Beautiful” Trash Off

Garland, Texas -- Garland citizens are invited to join in the effort to Keep Garland Beautiful by participating in the annual Trash Off on Saturday, April 19. The event is being held in conjunction with the Garland Goes Green Environmental Expo.

Individuals, neighborhood groups, community organizations and youth groups are encouraged to participate from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Audubon Park, 342 Oates Road and at the Garland Goes Green site at Firewheel Town Center, Beebalm Lane at River Fern.

Participants may cleanup litter along Duck Creek from Audubon Park to Central Park or host a cleanup in their neighborhood. Organizations are welcome to focus on adopted roadways and parkways.

Keep Garland Beautiful is committed to promoting efforts to maintain and improve the overall environment and the physical conditions of Garland. Each year during the Trash Off, volunteers help improve local water quality, restore natural beauty, and reduce potential threats to human health and wildlife. Litter blocks storm drains, reduces property values and aesthetic appeal, and injures thousands of animals through ingestion or entanglement each year. As a result of great public participation during organized cleanup events and with litter prevention programs, Garland is well on its way to becoming clean and green.
