CDBG - R Funding - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act


Neighborhood Services will receive $561,811 in Community Development Block Grant Funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (CDBG-R).  FY 2008 CDBG-R funds are proposed to be used over a 3-year period ending September 30,2012 as follows:

Retrofitting for Energy Efficiency - $505,630
Eligible applicants are homeowners that have incomes at or below 80% of the area median income.  An energy audit will be performed to determine the basic areas for improvement. 

Examples of retrofitting are: the envelope of the building - roofs, exterior walls, doors and windows, HVAC efficiency, water heaters, appliances and electrical fixtures. 

The goals of the program are to increase energy efficiency and reduce the burden of utility bills, improve the quality of life by improving indoor air quality, buffering exterior noise, reduce pollutants and contribute to having a cleaning environment and healthier neighborhood by reducing energy consumption.  Approximately 33 homes will be retrofitted.
 


Administration and Oversight - $56,181
Administrative costs are limited to 10% of the grant.


Eligibility

HUD Income Guidelines 

  • Must own and reside in property
  • Must agree to have energy audit performed
  • Must submit application
  • Provide a copies of ALL household income
  • Provide copies of Social Security cards for all household members
  • Provide copies of drivers licenses for all household members
    Funding is limited and applications are taken on a first come, first served basis.
