The Buckingham-Meadow Neighborhood Program Area is comprised of the area located within the area bounded by Buckingham Road, Glenbrook Drive, Belt Line Road, and North Garland Avenue. The Buckingham North and Meadow Crest neighborhoods lent their names to the neighborhood program area. The Buckingham North neighborhood is an older subdivision with attractive homes and streets. It is also actively represented by the Buckingham North Neighborhood Association. The Meadow Crest neighborhood is characterized by newer and larger homes. It does not have an active neighborhood association.
The kick off meeting was held on Saturday, February 2nd. Approximately thirty neighbors from throughout the Buckingham-Meadow Neighborhood Program came out to Cooper Elementary to share their thoughts on their neighborhood—both the strong points and their concerns. They also learned about the Strategy for Vital Neighborhoods and the concept of neighborhood management. Most importantly, neighbors were able to meet each other, get to know a little about each other, and know there are others who are willing to act collectively to keep their neighborhood as a desirable place to live.
In the coming months, there will be a series of informational meetings to discuss the issues facing the Buckingham-Meadow Neighborhood Program Area in more depth. The City will arrange for speakers and facilitators to provide for an exchange of information and ideas.
What’s Happening Right Now?
A team of City staff members has been formed to study the neighborhood and review possible issues. The team is currently compiling the information gathered at the Kick Off Meeting.
