FAIR HOUSING OFFICE - ON ITS 16TH YEAR AS A SUMMER NUTRITION PROGRAM SPONSOR
"Many Texas children depend on free or reduced-price meals, served through schools, for proper nutrition. When school is not in session, some children may not get a well-balanced meal. The Texas Department of Agriculture's Summer Food Service Program provides these children with the same nutritious meals received during the school year (2011 SFSP)." This is the main reason why The Fair Housing Office and the City of Garland continue the committment to sponsor the Summer Nutrition Program (SNP).
The theme for 2011 is "3E's of Healthy Living;Education, Exercise and Eating Right .” The city’s Summer Nutrition Program will, yet again, be offered at 25 participating sites all over the City of Garland from June 6 to August 5, 2011, Monday through Friday (except for Monday July 4, 2011).
This program provides free, nutritious meals to children ages one through 18. There are no other qualifications and there is no registration.
